The HBXL Estimating Service employs experienced building estimators who, between them, have estimated millions of pounds worth of building projects since the company’s launch in 2012. The service is used across the UK by small to medium sized builders, self-builders, architects, as well as a number of Builders Merchants too. One estimator dedicates their time to each estimate. And each client receives a comprehensive Estimate Pack with an estimate, customer quote, management documents including material order schedules and build programmes.

Experienced
HBXL only uses experienced estimators with a building background. Each job has one estimator assigned to it. They will see the estimate through from start to finish. This is different to many estimating services which spread a job between at least two people in order to hit short deadlines. HBXL’s approach is to give a longer lead time in order to maintain continuity, and in turn accuracy.

Accurate
HBXL uses the UK’s leading residential estimating software, EstimatorXpress. It has been a tried and trusted method of estimating for over 20 years. The software employs hundreds of estimating calculators to arrive at the costs, which HBXL prides itself on being 100% accurate.

Personalised
Users of the service benefit from direct contact with the estimator assigned to their project. And rather than make assumptions to speed up the process, estimators speak with customers to raise queries and make suggestions based on their building experience.

Their experienced building estimators are at your service. Send them your building plans and they will give you a delivery date and a fixed priced quotation for completing the estimate and quotation. One estimator will dedicate their time to your estimate. There are no short cuts. They’ll take a fine tooth-comb to the plans and call on a huge choice of materials prices from across the UK.

What do you need from me?
Customers supply proposed floor plans elevation plans, plus existing plans (for extensions, loft or garage conversions), and any relevant specification notes and/or tender documents. The files are emailed or sent via the drag and drop uploader in the company website. The estimators examine the material and within one working day confirm the no-obligation estimating fee and delivery date.

What do I get?
The pack consists of detailed cost reports by build phase and resource type, as well as schedules (materials/labour/plant). The estimators also include a suggested build programme (Gantt chart) and a customer quotation and schedule of estimate assumptions.

Can it be customised?
HBXL Estimating Services invites customers to provide their own labour rates and mark-up percentage. They will add the company details and their client’s, and if provided, the customer’s company logo as well.

How much does it cost?
HBXL make clear that their price list is a guide and each job is priced on a job by job basis. Extensions up to 25m2 cost £299 with Building Reg Drawings, and £249 without. New Builds up to 100m2 cost £349 with final drawings, and £299 with only the planning drawings.

How long does it take?
HBXL does not provide a 24-hour or 48-hour service. On average they aim to deliver smaller jobs in 3-4 days. Larger jobs they state will take 7-10 days. The company claims to have hit 100% of their deadlines. They don’t advertise themselves to be the quickest estimating service available in the UK, rather the most accurate.
